Vice President of Marketing

Thrive Research, Inc., a leading provider of well-being and behavioral health solutions online, is searching for an exceptional VP of Marketing. Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct strategic planning, including corporate positioning, market and competitive analysis, customer segmentation and penetration plans, and related product positioning.
  • Develop marketing strategies and programs to drive consumer, partner and channel acquisition. Work closely with VP of Client Services to develop and manage channel and partner strategies and programs.
  • Define and direct marketing programs for demand creation and lead generation. Interface with VP of Client Services for lead tracking and management.
  • Create marketing communications for branding, website development, public relations, advertising, white papers, trade shows, and seminar/event collateral. Manage both industry and market research.
  • Own product marketing, including product launch management, sales training, presentations, sales tools, competitive analysis and general sales support.
  • Develop and track metrics and success criteria for all marketing programs.
  • Act as spokesperson for the company with press and analysts, as well as at industry events.
  • Collaborate with top academic researchers at Stanford University and other institutions to refine our vision and define effective solutions.
  • Interface with product management, including market and customer research for market and product requirements.
  • Interface with engineering regarding product life cycle management.
  • Develop and manage the Company‚Äôs marketing budget.
  • Work with CEO and executive team members to identify and develop strategic alliances, raise venture/public/partner financing, communicate with the Board of Directors, and close/grow major customer accounts.


  • 15 years marketing experience in comparable consumer industry, with 5 years in a senior management position.
  • Successful startup experience leading marketing in a consumer internet company, ideally e-learning, social networking or health 2.0.
  • B2C and B2B online marketing experience; social media expert.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Operates at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Exceptional track record of developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives, providing personal leadership through example.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience working with business and industry press.
  • Strong strategic planning and analysis skills in sales, marketing and business (competitive) strategy.
  • Executive presence.
  • Willing to work for primarily equity-based compensation until outside funding is secured.
