Refresh For High Schools

For today's busy adolescents and young adults, good sleep is crucial to keeping the brain and body refreshed. Although researchers do not fully understand the exact science of sleep, it is known that quality sleep is needed for optimal physical and mental well-being. Parents who choose this program for their children are determined that their children achieve their highest potential and will not let sleep hinder their children's performance.

Refresh focuses on the science of sleep for optimal performance and well-being. Students work on developing healthy sleep patterns and creating environments conducive to sleep. They are taught Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based on skills and habits that optimize sleep hygiene and health.

Ideally Suited For

  • Students who have problems sleeping or getting the amount of sleep they need
  • Young people who want to improve their quality of life or school performance through improved sleep hygiene

  • Decreased risk of depression in high-risk students
  • Increase alertness and productivity
  • Enhanced physical and nutritional health
  • Improved knowledge of the connections between physiology and mood

Refresh relates sleep to emotions, physical health, and school performance. Students complete sleep diaries that help them track and improve their sleep habits. They learn about the physiological functions of sleep and how these functions affect their behavior. In a study by the Stanford School of Medicine, students who completed Refresh showed a significant decrease in depression and improvement in sleep. In addition to comprehensive assessments, novel engagement strategies, and interactive functionalities, Refresh focuses on developing skills and covering relevant topics including:

  • Creating a sleep-conducive environment
  • Ideal wake-up times
  • Sleep goal-setting
  • Napping
  • Relaxing before bedtime
  • And more
